Had a wonderful time reading HUNGRY at Lady Jane’s last night with Addison Fox (BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE) and Isabo Kelly (BRIGHT ARROW BURNING). Audience laughed at all the right parts and we even had a ‘shibboleth’ winner. Ron Hogan (beatrice.com) went home with his very own ‘I Love Zombies’ mug. Anyone know what ‘shibboleth’ means? I’ll send you a free book.

Webster’s Dictionary calls slang: Informal language consisting of words and expressions that are not considered appropriate for formal occasions. I like slang because those unique words showcase a characters personality. For example – the hunky military guys say “hooray”. While the blonde cheerleading types yell out “woohoo”. Archer on FX. Hero but completely flawed. He’s insensitive, sarcastic and downright mean. Plus he works for his mother. And even though he’s animated he’s still hot. The bad boy gone completely wrong in a dysfunctional but charming way.

Keep thinking about these Iraq war veterans. Super sensitive, flawed guys. What happens if one has a brother who followed him to war and that brother got hurt…badly. Does the hero spend the rest of his life caring for the invalid that now lives in the shell of his brother's body? He gives up a career, love and even going fishing for a weekend. But then a lively, loving and creative woman comes along.
